The Jesuit Library

Since the Schools of Philosophy and Theology were established at Milltown Park in the 1880’s the Irish Jesuits have gathered publications for their house of studies. Since 1938 this material has been housed in an attractive purpose-built library, the Jesuit Library.

With a collection of over 140,000 volumes and receiving over 240 journals, the Jesuit Library is an outstanding resource for theological study and research. Housed over three floors, the collection focuses mainly on classical and contemporary theological and philosophical issues, and contains rich resources in areas such as scripture study, spirituality and Church history. The Irish Reference Library, devoted to indigenous ecclesiastical and cultural issues contains a unique selection of pamphlets on nineteenth and twentieth century social history and spirituality.

If you are doing research, and wish to use the resources in the Jesuit Library, you may apply to join the reader or borrower scheme. Each application will be judged on its merits and acceptance is at the discretion of the Librarian. Interested individuals should contact the library by phone or e-mail for further information.
